It reflects what we believe we have designed – the most versatile, comfortable and beautiful jacket you will ever own.
Mudtex® technology
We searched high and low for a material that had amazing properties and one that was kind to the planet. In the end, we have engineered our Mudtex® fabric by combining recycled polyester with a high performing membrane, which means your jacket is:
Waterproof
20K HH rating* – Rainproof and waterproof under very high pressure. Ideal for heavy rain and wet snow.
Windproof
Keeps the wind out due to the way the material is woven.
Breathable
15K rating** – High breathability which means you won’t get sweaty when moving.
Anti-static
Soft brushed internal layer reduces the static.
Explained: *HH is short for Hydrostatic Head. The rating is tested by placing a square tube over a piece of fabric and filling it up with water. In our case, the water was filled up to a height of 20,000 mm before the water would begin to leak through. The higher the number, the more waterproof the fabric is.
**Breathability is measured in grams. This is the amount of water vapour that can pass through a square meter (m2) of the fabric from the inside to the outside in 24 hours. Again, the higher the figure, the more breathable the fabric is.
Our Summit jacket has everything you need thanks to our innovative fabric.
Our sustainable materials
InnovationRecycled polyester
Recycled polyester uses PET as the raw material which is the same material used in clear plastic water bottles. Recycling it to create fabric prevents it from going to landfill and means all that recycling you are doing is actually worthwhile.
Plastic bottles don’t make a lot of sense as they can only be recycled a few times, so making jackets and clothes from them is a much better use of the material. We should really be drinking from glass and aluminium bottles which are infinitely recyclable, but that is another story.
The recycled polyester process uses up to 50% less energy and reduces our dependence on petroleum as the raw material. Don’t worry, the process is super clean so you won't have some fizzy pop in your jacket, well, unless you put it there.
Did you know?
Recycled polyester can be recycled again and again with no degradation of quality, allowing us to minimise wastage. This means garment manufacture could become a closed loop system and eliminates the need to create new fabrics.
Using the same Mudtex® material, we have developed products suitable for all ages with different functions. See below for more details.
